About
When I started making candles, I had an oversimplified view of the candle making process. Since then, I’ve become a diligent student of this craft, experimenting with four kinds of wax, discovering the critical importance of testing wicks, mixing countless scent combinations, and driving myself to the brink of insanity over labeling. The most challenging lesson, though, has been patience. Candles need time to cure. It can be so frustrating because I want to burn them immediately!
People often ask how this business got its name. There were so many factors in the decision: obsession with British literature, love and respect for the water in general (Southeastern Virginia has no shortage of waterways), and even adoration for alliteration are among the most prominent of these. In the same way that the name’s influences are myriad, numerous experiences along the way have been both challenging and inspirational. I’ve met amazing customers and fellow crafters and artisans on this journey, and I can’t wait to see what’s next.
